The Presidential candidate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has promised an expansion in the National Youth Employment Program (NYEP) to offer jobs to more Ghanaians should he become President after the December 7 elections.
Addressing the Ashanti Regional TESCON and Youth Forum at the Kumasi Polytechnic, Nana Addo, said the NPP under his administration would recuperate the NYEP, claiming it has gradually been made unattractive.
He renewed his commitment to offer free secondary education to enable many of the country’s youth access education.
He also promised to improve the living condition of teachers through salary increment and motivations.
On the rule of law, Nana Addo pledged to ensure fairness to all.
His running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia described the state of the country’s economy as terrible.
“We have to move this economy from an economy of Woyomization to an economy of jubilation”, he said.
The event was attended by TESCON members from various tertiary institutions in the region as well as the youth wings in 39 constituencies in the Region.
