Former Tema West MP, Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has paid a glowing tribute to the late former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings.

The former Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund described her as “one of Ghana’s most courageous daughters and transformative leaders.”

In a heartfelt statement, Naa Torshie said she received news of Nana Konadu’s passing with “deep sadness and reflection,” noting that her loss was both personal and national.

“Her loss is not only personal to many of us who admired her strength, but also national, for Ghana has lost one of its most courageous daughters and transformative leaders,” she stated.

She described Nana Konadu as “more than a First Lady” — a phenomenon whose voice carried clarity, strength, and an unyielding belief in Ghana’s potential.

“From her, I learnt that leadership demands courage — the courage to stand for what is right, to speak when silence is convenient, and to act when others hesitate,” Naa Torshie reflected.

According to her, the late former First Lady’s leadership through the 31st December Women’s Movement transformed “passion into policy” and gave real meaning to women’s empowerment across Ghana.

“She made empowerment practical by building schools, skills centres, and cooperatives that gave women and children real choices and opportunities,” she noted.

Naa Torshie described Nana Konadu as a mentor by example and a mirror of purpose, whose life taught that leadership is earned through conviction, sacrifice, and service — not inheritance or convenience.

“She taught that leadership is not about convenience or applause but about conviction and legacy,” she emphasised.

As the nation mourns her passing, Naa Torshie said Ghanaians must also celebrate “a life that challenged norms, empowered women, and redefined service.”

“Her story is a reminder that when women rise, communities rise with them — and when courage meets compassion, nations are transformed,” she said.

On behalf of her family and foundation, she extended heartfelt condolences to the Rawlings family, pledging that the example of Nana Konadu’s service will continue to inspire generations of Ghanaian women.

“May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may the example of her service continue to guide Ghana’s daughters toward purpose and leadership,” she concluded.
