The 2nd National Player Awards, dubbed GUINNESS NATIONAL PLAYER AWARDS has been launched. The event now, under a three year sponsorship relationship with giant beverage company ,Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited will see both old and current national team players being rewarded at a plush awards night at the state banquet hall on June 2. Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director of Proton Sports Services, Mr Kurt Okraku announced that his outfit in conjunction with the retired national footballers Association,the GFA and the Ministry of youth and Sports intend to make this year’s event even better than last year’s. In that regard, a new category, called the SPECIAL awards have been added unto the scheme. This category will honor coaches who won the 1963, 1965 African Cup of Nations and the coaches who won Ghana Bronze at the Bacelona Olympics The Board of Trustees have also set out to give national recognition to our Bronze winning Olympic team of 92 led by the multi system man Mr. Sam Arday. Also to be rewarded is the 1998/1999 Black Queens team that first won the African title and also qualified Ghana to the world cup in the USA.. Another category to receive awards is the GOLDEN LEGENDS category.
