Mr. Pius Opoku Boateng the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Kwabre West constituency, was on Monday morning arrested by the police for double registration.
Briefing newsmen, Mr Emmanuel Addai, Kwabre District Electoral Officer said he had a formal complaint that the Parliamentary Candidate had done double registration in the Voters’ Register.
He said after investigations it was detected that he has really registered at Nkukua-Buoho Roman Catholic Primary Polling Station in the Kwabre West Constituency.
The Electoral Officer pointed out that it was also detected that, he had done another registration at Patase Chief’s Palace Polling Station in the Afigya-Sekyere West Constituency with the same pictures and names and indicated his age at Nkukua-Buoho as 55 and that of Patase as 54.
Mr Addai said the case was reported to the Kodie Police and the accused was arrested.
When the GNA visited the police Station at Kodie, the Parliamentary Candidate was seated at the ‘counter-back’ of the charge office.
When the Police were contacted, they confirmed the case and said further investigations were to be made on the
report.
