The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced its intention of setting up a school to train members of its students’ wing and cadres to, among other objectives, fill leadership positions within its ranks.
This was disclosed by the party's General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu-Nketia.
Mr Asiedu-Nketia was speaking on arrival from China, where he led a six-member delegation of the party to visit the Communist Party of China (CPC) and its party school.
The CPC is the leading political party of the People’s Republic of China.
“There is no academic training that qualifies somebody to operate as a political leader. It is against this background that certain political parties, mostly on the left side, have decided to fill this vacuum through the establishment of party schools," Mr Asiedu- Nketia noted.
He said the NDC would replicate the concept "so that through the party school, we will be able to train our cadres and our students' wing about how to go about the business of running the political party first and how to prepare our youth for leadership positions in the future.”
