The Vice President has reiterated his position that the opposition National Democratic Congress is not fit to lead the country.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia during an event to acclaim President Akufo-Addo as the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party in Accra said the NDC has nothing good to offer Ghanaians.
This he said is evident their poor management of the country for the eight years that they were in power.
“We recall that after eight years in office, the results of their economic management was declining growth, high and constantly rising inflation, rapidly depreciating currency, loss of business confidence, high unemployment poorly regulated finance sector, a collapsing NHIS, no ambulance system to speak about, dumsor, 45 percent average annual increase in electricity prices, increases in taxes the freeze on public recruitment, cut on research allowances…finally they ended with the IMF for a bailout.
“Notwithstanding this abysmal performance in office, they are still trying to make a comeback to give us an additional dose of their incompetence,” he stated.
Dr Bawumia who has been chosen for the fourth time by the president as running mate for the December polls said the Akufo-Addo administration has performed and continues to do better than the previous government.
In terms of performance, the Vice president says the NPP has delivered at least 78 percent of the promises they made to Ghanaians before they took power in 2017.
“We have not only delivered on our promises, we have performed much better than the incompetent alternative,” he added.
Dr Bawumia urged the opposition party whose members he says do not read, to take a look at the data and get better informed about the current administration’s performance and that of theirs while they were in power.
“They should not only read the data but they should try and understand it so that they do not mislead us like their mosquito general tried to do after the verdict of the Supreme Court on Thursday,” he said.
