Deputy General Secretary of the NDC Mr. Kofi Adams has told Joy FM that the NDC Party will celebrate the 29th anniversary of the 31st December Revolution day across the country. He said that the celebration was not be done by a section of the NDC as was being alleged, but that it was a celebration being organized and marked in full by the NDC Party.
Mr. Kofi Adams said that the theme for this year’s celebration is; Integrity for Sustainable Development, a public lecture will be held at the Teachers’ Hall in Accra on Friday to climax activities marking the celebration, where the leader of the Revolution, former President Flt Lt Jerry John Rawlings will be the Special Guest of Honour.
He said that contrary to the view that the celebration was an affront to the memories of the people who lost their lives in the revolution and their surviving relatives, it was important to commemorate the event to remind the country that the incidents which led to the revolution should not e allowed to happen again. According to Mr. Adams, although lives were lost during the 31st December revolution, it was the case with most liberation struggles including Ghana’s independence struggle.
