Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, presidential candidate of the CPP has urged voters in the three northern regions not to be swayed by the northern development fund being promised by the NPP and NDC. He said the two political parties had been in power for the last sixteen years and if they were committed to bridging the development gap between the north and south they would have done that without waiting till this year to give promises. He has therefore appealed to the people of the Upper West Region to vote massively for the CPP which would give them good roads and revive all collapsed industries to provide employment for the youth. Dr Nduom was speaking at a rally at Wa on Saturday during a campaign tour of the region following a similar one undertaken by his running mate, Dr Abudu Sakara earlier in the week to introduce himself to the people and campaign for votes for the Party. He said the country needed real change in policies and programmes that would move it forward and the CPP represented that change. What jobs are there for you? he asked, adding, “your roads are all bad, do not listen to their empty promises. We do not want people who will give you promises and disappear when they win”. He said when the CPP was voted into power, it would make education free from the kindergarten to the tertiary level. Dr Nduom said his party was going to contest all the ten parliamentary seats in the region as he introduced seven of the candidates who were present at the rally. He said the CPP stood for peace and those who would vote for the party in the forthcoming elections would therefore be voting for peace for the country. The CPP flag bearer urged his supporters to avoid violence by refraining from insults, stone throwing and any other act that was likely to incite violence. Mr David Ampofo, Campaign Manager of the CPP said among all political parties, the CPP had the best record for the development of the country and urged Ghanaians to give the party another chance. “People talk year after year about changing your circumstances and end up changing nothing. You have a choice and an alternative in the CPP to change things for you”. Mr Sulemana Issahaku, Wa Central Constituency parliamentary candidate of the party said only the CPP was people-centred and capable of reducing poverty in the country. Source: GNA
