Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, flag-bearer of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) in the just ended elections, has disclosed the party would by Sunday take a firm decision on which party to support in the run-off. The December 7 presidential election failed to produce a winner since none of the eight contenders was able to poll the required 50% plus one votes. The Electoral Commission (EC) has therefore set December 28 for the run-off, which would be between the NPP’s Nana Akufo-Addo who polled 49.13% and NDC’s Prof. Atta Mills who had 47.92%. Dr. Nduom placed third by securing 1.34% of the total valid votes cast. Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday, Dr. Nduom revealed that if he would back any party, that party should be ready to buy into political ideologies of the CPP. “What I am saying to them is that here is my Bible, ten points agenda for change you can feel in your pocket, that is one; I want an inclusive society, demonstrate to me from now that by your speech, by your conduct, by the advert you start and all those things that your are not going to raise a spectre of some people are evil.” Expatiating on his all inclusive agenda, Dr. Nduom said it should not be limited to ministerial or government appointments, but, should be seen in terms of thought - where people who seek to serve the nation are not branded as this or that. “If your look left you are branded this way, you look right you are branded that way. It doesn’t help us to bring our collective efforts and talents together for the betterment of our country.” He further warned prospective partners against campaign of insults, deceit and personal attacks. “I don’t want anyone to come to me and say that those NDC people are evil, if you help them they will kill all Ghanaians or those NPP people they will take everything and not leave anything for anybody.” Dr. Nduom charged party leaders to exhibit acts of humility in their activities leading to the run-off, likewise, supporters were advised to refrain from actions that could inflame passions and incite violence. Asked if he would accept a ministerial post in the next government, he replied “you should be shocked to hear my name…I don’t have any intention”, but was quick to add, “in politics you can never rule anything out.” Dr. Nduom promised to put the next administration on its feet by giving it an “active positive opposition”.
