The New Oyoko Clinic in the New Juaben Municipality constructed under government’s Community Based Rural Development, is engulfed with booklets of National Health Insurance Scheme subscribers in the area, causing commotion at the Out Patients Department and other offices of the clinic.Dr Lovelace Kwaku Senaya, Municipal Director of Health Services of New Juaben who made the disclosure during the Regional Minister’s familiarization tour of the area, noted that some rooms which could have been used for other purposes in the clinic are being used as store rooms for the numerous NHIS booklets.Dr Senaya further suggested that NHIS subscribers be made to take their booklets home and present it anytime they attend hospital to create space at the Oyoko clinic and other health facilities across the country that are also facing similar congestion. He further noted that subscribers’ information in the booklet can also be programmed on a computer database to be easily accessed by Service Providers by just clicking a mouse. Some nurses at the clinic explained that the situation was comparatively better than at their old place where nurses and patients had to squeeze themselves for space due to the congestion. The clinic was handed over to the Municipal Health Directorate in July this year and has been in use by the people of Oyoko and its environs since.
