The National Labour Commission (NLC) has issued a summons to the leadership of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD).
This summons is in response to UTAG-UESD's declaration of an indefinite strike, effective from Tuesday, February 20, 2024, due to the government's failure to pay their Online Teaching Support Allowance.
The NLC has scheduled a hearing on the matter in dispute and has requested UTAG-UESD to appear before the commission on Wednesday, February 28.

In the meantime, the Commission has urged the lecturers to suspend the ongoing strike and resume their duties in the lecture halls while their concerns are being addressed.
"The National Labour Commission, in the exercise of its powers under section 139 of the Labour Act, (2003), Act 651, writes to summon the parties to appear before the Commission on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 11 am for a hearing of the issues in dispute."
