The National Media Commission (NMC) has reminded the media that it would not hesitate to impose the highest sanctions on media houses that breached the broadcasting standards or the print media guidelines of the Commission.
A release signed for Mr Paul Adu-Gyamfi, NMC Chairman, said Sunday’s Presidential Election Runoff demanded the highest standard of professionalism and entreated media houses to observe the highest degree of ethics in order to help to sustain democracy in the country.
“Media practitioners must eschew acts that promote sectionalism and incite passions.”
The Commission said “the peace and stability of the nation from this time on depends as much on the behaviour of the key political actors, as on the media” and, therefore, expressed the hope that the media would not disappoint the nation.
