National Youth Organizer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku, says the party will not allow the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to manipulate the 2016 general elections.
According to Sammy Awuku, NDC's tendency to use aggression to falsely usurp the people's ballot during elections -- which he dubbed 'Shatta Movement' -- will not be tolerated in the next presidential and parliamentary elections.
'Shatta Movement', although refers to popular Ghanaian dance hall artiste, Shatta Wale, has also come to mean the use of force or aggression -- usually unlawfully -- to achieve one's aim.
Sammy Awuku made these comments when he addressed NPP supporters in the New Juabeng South Constituency of the Eastern Region last Sunday.
He had joined the constituency for a keep fit routine organised on his behalf by the youth of the town to congratulate him for his victory after last month's delegates conferences where he was voted as NPP youth organiser.
Sammy Awukud said the NPP will ensure total protection of the ballot and prevent the NDC from stealing or changing the voice of the people in 2016.
"Do not worry, work hard and pray that we win power 2016, then when the time come for you to be rewarded let someone ask you to bring certificate, we shall see, when they tell you to bring certificate come and tell me, we shall show them that we pasted the posters and did the leg work" he told an enthusiastic crowd of New Juabeng South youth.
He also said Ghanaians will not forgive the NPP if the party allows the NDC to change the will of the masses as it happened in 2008 and 2012.
Member of Parliament for New Juabeng South Constituency Dr. Mark Assibey-Yeboah urged the NPP supporters to endeavour to talk to non-supporters of the party for victory in 2016.
Sammy Awuku therefore called on the NPP youth to work hard and position their selves for power by January 2017.
