Fifa has extended the mandate of the normalisation committee, set up to run Ghana's Football Association(GFA), by a further six months.  

The extension would enable the transitional committee to lead the Black Stars to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt and stay on until  September 30, 2019. 

Fifa announced the Normalization Committee on September 13, 2018, with the mission to revise the Ghana Football Association statutes, conduct elections and manage the daily affairs of country’s football governing body.

It came after the government of Ghana discontinued the liquidation of the Football Association as well as Fifa's decision to discontinue the suspension of FA. All this came in the aftermath of the Anas Aremeyaw Anas ‘Number 12’ documentary that exposed massive corruption in the nation’s football. 

The committee is led by Dr Kofi Amoah. Other members include Lucy Quist, Naa Adofoley and former Ghana international Sammy Kuffour, who has replaced Lawyer Duah Adonteng. 

In their first six months, the committee planned to introduce a football tournament to keep men’s football clubs busy, which they called the Normalization Committee Special Competition. It never happened.

However, a version for women kicked off two weeks ago, which represents the biggest actionable achievement by the NC. Another achievement the NC can point – though it was not a core part of their mandate - has been constituting six ad-hoc committees with the job of proposing ideas to run football.

Meanwhile, a joint FIFA and Ghana Government Task Force have been formed to create and establish proper disciplinary governance and auditing mechanism as well as ensure that all persons found culpable of the investigations are punished in accordance to the Ghanaian domestic laws and FIFA statutes.

Ghana’s Deputy Attorney General, Godfred Dame, is part of the Task Force with Dr Kofi Amoah there in his capacity as head of the Normalization Committee.

The other members include; Peter Limacher from FIFA, Jean Samuel Leuba from FIFA who are all consultants with expertise in the world of integrity, sports governance and sports administration as well as Solomon Mudege who works at the member association division as the senior development manager for Africa as the Secretary of the Task Force.
