The Northern Regional branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has sent a good will message to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), calling for a successful National Delegates' Conference in Kumasi.
Alhaji Imoro Issifu Alhassan Umar, Northern Regional Secretary of NDC told the GNA in a telephone interview on Friday that, "I want to specifically advise delegates from the Northern Region to comport themselves before, during and after the congress. They should just stay away from acts of violence since people always say we are violent."
"What happened during the NPP Northern Regional congress where a police man was allegedly shot should not be repeated anywhere, including the Kumasi congress," he said.
According to him, the NDC needed a strong opposition and that if the NPP continued to be divided; it could not effectively play its democratic role to deepen democracy in the country.
Alhaji Umar appealed to Ghanaians to support the government to implement its development agenda, saying, "The national cake would surely be distributed equitably for the electorate to renew NDC mandate in 2012."
