Airlines operating in the country should soon heave a sigh of relief as authorities secure regular supply of aviation fuel at the Kotoka International Airport.
This follows an interim arrangement reached between Shell, Total and the National Petroleum Authority to bring in supplies from Togo.
Under the arrangement Shell and Total are expected to bring about 10 tankers of fuel over the next few days.
Aviation fuel supply went down last week following an inferno which gutted the Tema Oil Refinery loading gantry.
The non-supply forced airlines to refuel in neighboring countries, a situation officials say is expensive and capable of causing delays in flights.
Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Alex Mould tells Joy News the arrangement should normalise the situation in the short term.
He added that the authority is working to license other private fuel depots to ensure that there are alternative sources of suppliers in the country apart from TOR.
