The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) says it is working around the clock to find the cause of the acute fuel shortage that has hit some parts of the country.
Some motorists in the Upper West Regional capital, Wa have expressed worry about the shortage of fuel in the town.
Reports say many of them have parked their vehicles as a result of the shortage, blaming it on managers of fuel stations, whom they accuse of hording the product.
Upper West Regional correspondent Rafik Salaam told Joy News that all eleven filling stations in the Municipality are without diesel and “only a couple are having petrol” which is also inadequate.
He said several motorists have formed long queues just to get fuel.
But Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority Alex Mould told Joy News his outfit has enough supplies on the market to last for weeks.
According to him, “We have enough stock to last us a few weeks and as you are aware there were a few days around Christmas that supplies were not made to the public from these depots and we are rectifying that by ensuring that they work over time to make up any short fall in the country.”
He said his men are however on the ground to assess the situation.
Mr Alex Mould also debunked remorse making the rounds that fuel prices would be increased in the first week of January.
