Dr Abena Tannoh, a medical doctor and member of Ghana’s National Paralympic Committee (NPC), is representing the country at the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC) Annual Classification Meeting being held in Bonn, Germany, from 23 to 25 October 2025.
The meeting, hosted at the IPC Campus, brings together leading medical professionals, classification experts and sports administrators from across the world to discuss the future of Paralympic sport.
This year’s summit focuses on the implementation of the 2025 IPC Classification Code, strategies for national Paralympic committees, athlete wellbeing, safe sport practices, and advances in medical and scientific research related to athlete classification.
Participants will also attend the 2025 Classification Recognition Awards, which celebrate individuals and organisations contributing to fairness and inclusivity in Paralympic competition.
Dr Tannoh described her selection as “an honour and a privilege,” expressing gratitude to Mr Samson Deen, President of Ghana’s National Paralympic Committee and President of the Africa Paralympic Committee, for his support and leadership.
Ghana’s involvement, she added, highlights the country’s growing commitment to medical excellence, inclusivity, and athlete development within the Paralympic movement.
