The national campaign chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Kofi Konadu Apraku says it would be difficult for the party to accept the results of some polling stations from the Volta Region if the Electoral Commission does not do anything about it. Dr Konadu said the NPP had already this morning brought the attention of the EC to the refusal of some presiding officers in the Volta Region to accept NPP accredited agents at several polling stations at South Dayi, Keta, North Tongu, South Tongu and Anlo. He explained that his party has credible information indicating that NPP accredited and authorized agents have either been refused to monitor the voting process or have been chased away while voting is still going on. He said the NPP cannot expect a fair electoral outcome from these polling stations under these circumstances. As a result the NPP has called for an immediate halt to voting in the constituencies mentioned while appropriate actions are taken to ensure the presence and safety of NPP Polling agents. He warned that, if this is not done immediately, it will be difficult for the party to accept results from these constituencies. Dr Kofi Konadu complained that they have also received several disturbing reports of intimidation of NPP polling agents from several polling stations in the Volta Region. He emphasized that the party will hold the Electoral Commission responsible for the safety of all NPP polling agents and their right to monitor the voting process. Source: Peacefmonline
