The National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2025 kicked off in electrifying fashion as Ofori Panin Senior High School delivered a commanding performance to win the opening contest of the preliminary stage with a remarkable 79 points.
Facing off against Kpando SHS and Awe SHTS, Ofori Panin SHS showcased superior speed, accuracy, and teamwork across all five rounds of the competition.
Their final score not only secured a comfortable victory but also set a high benchmark for the contests to follow.

The full results from the first contest of the day are as follows:
- Ofori Panin SHS – 79 points
- Kpando SHS – 40 points
- Awe SHTS – 20 points
From the opening round, Ofori Panin took an early lead and never looked back, building momentum through the problem of the day and buzzer rounds.

Their consistent form and confident answering thrilled supporters and reaffirmed their reputation as a formidable force in the competition.
The contest was the first of nine scheduled for Day One of the NSMQ 2025 preliminaries.
Hosted by Primetime and supported by the Ghana Education Service and key sponsors, the NSMQ continues to be the most prestigious academic contest in the country.
This year’s edition features a record 174 schools and promises intense academic rivalry as schools battle for a place in the next stage of the competition.

With this emphatic win, Ofori Panin SHS advances to the one-eighth stage, where they will face stiffer competition from seeded schools and other preliminary winners.
The NSMQ continues tomorrow with more contests lined up, as attention now turns to whether other schools can match or surpass Ofori Panin’s impressive 79-point haul.
