Tears flowed in the camp of Kumasi Girls SHS as they failed to make it to the national stage of the National Science and Maths Quiz competition.
They have, for the second year running, been blocked from qualifying to the preliminary stage after losing to Armed Forces SHTS.
The girls in a fierce contest with Armed Forces SHTS could not keep up their momentum of matching up to their contenders after they were beaten by a 6-point margin.
Armed Forces SHS secured the fourth available slot on the first day of the Ashanti regional qualifiers.

The first and second rounds of the contest saw the two schools matching boot for boot but the students of Armed Forced proved a formidable side overturning the contest into their favor at the end of the third round.
They led the round with a 6-point margin ahead of Kumasi Girls.
Although the girls attempted to overthrow the progeny of the 4th Infantry Battalions (4BN), their forces were not strong enough to pushback the students from the Uaddara Barracks.
Meanwhile, three others schools in the region - Kumasi Anglican Secondary School, Aduman SHS, and Ejisuman SHS - have secured slots at the national championship.

Kumasi Anglican Secondary School had to cut short their campaign of winning the national championship at the one-eighth stage of the 2022 championship after losing to Aburi Presby SHS in a painful defeat.
But the Disciples of Super KASS are back after successfully subduing their first hurdle for this year’s championship.
They won their contest with a whopping 67 points to secure the first slot of the Ashanti regional qualifiers.
They beat competition from New Edubiase SHS, Uthmaniya SHS, T.I. Ahmadiyya Girls SHS, and Namong SHS.
Ejisuman SHS in keen contest with Mankraso SHS emerged victorious with a 13-point margin.
They trailed Mankraso SHS at the end of the third round with 8-points but surprisingly took hold of the competition to win the contest after taking two riddles and answering almost all of the True/False questions correctly.
Aduman SHS is in anticipation of revenging Prempeh College in the regional championship slated to happen on Friday, June 30.
