The road to glory at the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) erupted into a thrilling intellectual showdown as three powerhouse schools—Mfantsipim School, Prempeh College, and Swedru Secondary School—battled fiercely for a coveted spot in the semi-finals.
The much-anticipated quarter-final clash took center stage on Thursday, October 24, at the SGS Auditorium in Cape Coast, with electrifying moments that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
It was no ordinary quiz but an intense contest of wits, knowledge, and strategy, where each team fought tooth and nail for academic supremacy.
These three giants, having crushed their opponents in the one-eighth stage, promised a spectacular encounter—and they delivered beyond expectations!

In a dramatic, heart-pounding contest filled with turnarounds and tie-breaker tension, the Botwe Boys (Mfantsipim School) emerged victorious, clinching the win with 53 points after a nerve-wracking tie-breaker against Prempeh College.
Prempeh College proved to be worthy adversary, coming in a razor-close second with 53 points, missing the top spot only by the slimmest of margins. Swedru Secondary School also put up a commendable effort, finishing with 27 points in a contest that demanded excellence at every turn.
The competition began with a fiery first round, where Prempeh College flexed its academic muscles, securing a commanding 30 points. Mfantsipim School stayed hot on their heels with 29 points, while Swedru struggled to keep pace, finishing the round with 13 points.

The battle intensified in the second round as the Botwe Boys mounted a comeback, overtaking Prempeh College with 38 points. Prempeh trailed closely with 35 points, and Swedru remained stuck at 13, unable to climb out of the pit.
With every question, the atmosphere became more charged, as passionate supporters cheered their schools on. It was a fierce exchange of knowledge, wit, and teamwork that elevated the contest to a whole new level.
In the fourth round, the Botwe Boys dug deep, widening the gap with a stellar performance to reach 50 points, maintaining a narrow lead over Prempeh College, who amassed 46 points. Swedru Secondary School continued to trail with 24 points.

The most heart-stopping moment of the contest came in the final round when the Amanfoɔ Boys (Prempeh College) staged a breathtaking comeback to tie with Mfantsipim School at 53 points, bringing the contest to a dramatic tie-breaker. With the stakes at their highest, the auditorium buzzed with tension and anticipation.
In a stunning moment of brilliance, the Botwe Boys nailed the tie-breaker question, leaving the Amanfoɔ supporters heartbroken. The razor-thin margin of victory sent waves of cheers and gasps through the crowd as the final score was announced.

Though Prempeh College and Swedru Secondary School fought valiantly to reach this stage, their journeys ended in bittersweet fashion.
But for the Botwe Boys, the dream stays alive—they march confidently into the semi-finals, ready to continue their quest for the prestigious NSMQ trophy and the ultimate bragging rights.
The stars are aligning, and the BOTWE Boys are just getting started!
