The Vice president of policy think tank, IMANI-Ghana, Kofi Bentil, says the National Security Advisor's outburst over labour unrest in the country create doubts as to whether he is fit for the job.

According to him, Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo Mensah (retd.) should be advising government on measures to take to deal with agitations that have the potential to undermine the security of the nation instead of publicly chastising the labout unions and exacerbating the situation.

Speaking at the commissioning of a nine-classroom block he has built for O’reilly Senior High School in Accra Saturday, the National Security Advisor said the many strikes on the labour front showed high levels of indiscipline in the country.

He was appalled by the threats of strike by labour unions and asked them to “get out of the country if the kitchen is too hot” for them.

But speaking on the Super Morning Show on Joy FM, Wednesday, Mr. Kofi Bentil said the NSA "should stick to his job but if he needs to switch, he should switch". He the NSA is behaving like the Headmaster of O'reilly Secondary School

"It is not becoming of the temperament required of a National Security Advisor for him [Nunoo Mensah] to do these things [building classroom blocks] and be open and public about them and to castigate other people in the manner he is doing.

"The truth is General Nunoo Mensah's temperament, intelligence, decorum, style and everything is becoming of the Headmaster of O'reilly Secondary School," Mr. Bentil told Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, host of the programme.

Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Nunoo Mensah, who also spoke on the programme via phone, dismissed calls for his dismissal, insisting he said nothing wrong.

The two-time former Chief of Defense Staff said he stood by the comments.

"I'm tired of explaining myself...I made a point and I still stand by that", Brig. Gen. Nunoo Mensah insisted.
