Sixty-three youth in the Kwaebibirem district, made up of six men and 57 women have begun a six-month training at the Saint Dominic Hospital at Akwatia as health extension workers under the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP).
Those who would be successful after the training would be posted to various health facilities within the district.
The Kwaebibirem District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Yiadom-Boakye, said at a workshop at Kade. He urged the participants to take their studies serious to become pace-setters in the health module of the programme in the district.
He said Government was determined to ensure the youth were gainfully employed under the programme.
Dr Patrick Amo-Mensah, Kwaebibirem District Director of Health Service, told them that only those who excelled would be employed.
About 508 youth have so far been employed under the programme in the district out of 4,221 youth that registered under the programme.
