Oduro Sarfo insists that both Kotoko and Hearts have lost their relevance in Ghana football due to their declining standards in recent years.
And he believes the current mid-table places of both clubs only goes to buttress his point.
"I personally think both clubs should change their way of running or managing their affairs," the administrator said on Asempa FM.
"Clubs like Esperance, TP Mazembe, Hafia, Orlando Pirates and so on are examples our two big clubs should emulate. The days when Hearts and Kotoko could easily afford top Ghanaian players are long gone."
The former Berekum Chelsea general manager warned: "If they continue this way things will get out of hand."
Things are already going south for Ghana's two biggest clubs, who are currently 10th (Hearts) and 11th (Kotoko) on the log. Even more ominously, the two are three points away from the relegation zone.
"They've lost their relevance, and that happened years ago. They seem to not realize that things have changed in the way day-to-day running of clubs are done."
Kotoko have dominated the local scene in the past four years, having won the league three times in a row in addition to getting to three FA Cup finals in five years.
