The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is to receive a total of 3,200 litres of free diesel annually from the Total Ghana Petroleum Limited, an oil marketing company, to support its activities.
Nana K. Opoku-Amusah, Kumasi Area Manager of the Company, said the fuel would be distributed to four zones of the service - Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Northern Regions.
Each of them would be entitled to 800 litres of the fuel.
Nana Opoku-Amusah said this when he presented the Ashanti Zone with 84.47 litres of diesel, at a ceremony at Chirapatre, Kumasi.
He said the company is doing this as part of its corporate social responsibility.
Assistant Chief Fire Officer Philip Aheng-Mensah, Regional Fire Officer, said occasional challenges with fuel tend to affect the smooth operations of the service.
He appealed to public-spirited individuals and organisations do their bit to assist the operations of the service.
