The National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) says the increase in road fatalities in a recently released road safety report for this year is as a result of Okada business.
The commission says out of 1,538 fatalities recorded this year, Okada or commercial motorcycles accounted for about 25 per cent.
This was revealed at a stakeholder performance review conference held in Accra on Wednesday October 24, 2013.
May Obiri Yeboah, Executive Director of the National Road Safety Commission says most of operators of the Okada business are not patient on the roads and most often flout road safety regulations.
Okada business has been officially banned in the country but it still persists.
