The Chief Executive Officer of Justmax Travels, Justice Acquah, has been adjudged the ‘Most Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’, at the Paa Grant Medals for Excellence Award held in Takoradi.
The event, spearheaded by the Western Regional Coordinating Council, celebrated the enduring achievements and excellence of illustrious entrepreneurs and businesses in the Western Region.
Also, the award appreciates the hard work, excellence, achievement, innovation, and accomplishments of outstanding entrepreneurs, businessmen and women in their respective industries.
About the awards
The business award is named after George Alfred Grant (Paa Grant), an illustrious son of the Western Region, an astute businessman and a politician during the era of European dominance and colonialism.
He established the George Grant and Company in 1896. The exploits of Paa Grant made him develop a flourishing export business and established offices in London, Liverpool and Hamburg in Germany. The local operations were based in Dunkwa, Sekondi and Akim Abuakwa.
He is the idol of the region in terms of businesses and contributed significantly to the drive for self-governance and independence for Ghana.
Paa Grant is a business hero. The political contribution of Paa Grant is also as important as his business career. In 1926, he was appointed to the legislative council, representing Sekondi, and was instrumental in the extension of pipe-born water and street lights to Sekondi and Axim.
