Ghana's Abdul-Rasheed Saminu has punched his ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the men's 200m after clocking a time of 20.12s to finish 3rd at the NCAA championships in Eugene, Oregon on Friday night.
The University of South Florida student ran an incredible bend out in lane 8 to come through with a new school record and claim bronze in the event.

He became the first Ghanaian athlete to qualify for the games in the individual event before compatriot, Rose Yeboah, also booked her ticket 24 hours later.
In the 100m, Saminu finished fifth with a time of 10.02s, just falling short of the olympic standard in that event which stands at 10.00s flat.
He has now become a First Team All American in both events.
The Olympic qualification caps off a remarkable season for the 22-year old, who clocked a wind assisted 9.95s in the 100m in April this year.
