The first meeting of the fourth session of the fifth parliament came to an end Thursday March 22.The meeting lasted for nine weeks having commenced on Tuesday January 24.In their closing statements on the floor of Parliament, the leaders from both sides of the divide commended the Speaker for her impartiality to both sides of the house.Minority leader and MP for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, commended the passage of some bills into law citing the University of Professional Studies Bill which is now law.He however urged the government to ensure corruption is tackled with all the seriousness it deserves to deter others from engaging in corrupt acts.Majority leader and MP for Zebilla, Cletus Avoka who was pleased with achievements chalked by the House also thanked the Electoral Commission for alleviating the fears and concerns raised by some members of the house on the Biometric Registration Exercise.He urged members of the House to use the break to educate their constituents on the biometric exercise.The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Justice Joyce Adeline Bamford-Addo congratulated the house for their commitment, sacrifice and hard work to matters of the House.The house resumes on May 15, 2012.Ghana| Joy News TV| Emmanuel Anteh
