The Upper West Regional Branch of the Right to Information Coalition has asked the government to make good its promise on the passage of the Right to Information Bill which is currently before Parliament. A statement issued in Wa by the Coalition and signed by its coordinator, Sidik Watara after a procession through some principal streets of the Wa Municipality to mark the Right to Know Day said the passage of the bill is long overdue and urged the government to effect the necessary amendments made by civil society organizations before passing it into law. The statement said the continuous delay in passing the Bill is denying Ghanaians the right to information which is key in promoting effective governance and participatory democracy. The statement therefore called on the government to consider the passage of the bill a priority and fulfill its promise of passing it before next year.
