The Executive Secretary of Sparrow Nest, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Akyimpem Nana Yaa Jantuah, has called on Ghanaians to develop interest in adopting children who by no fault of theirs, have been rendered homeless.

She said such children have always found themselves in orphanages where they do not have any affinity with their biological parents and are left in the mercies of care givers.

Therefore, adopting such children who are now destitute into their homes and nurturing them to become responsible citizens, were what a good citizen could do, to compliment his or her good works for the country.

Such an act, she noted, always attracts the full blessings of God. 

Nana Yaa Jantuah, who is also the Director of Communications at the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), made this observation last Saturday when she presented some items worth six thousand Cedis (GH¢6,000) to the Osu Children's Home. 

According to the communications expert and strategist, adopting orphaned children and giving them homely upbringing would not be a misplaced priority.

Among the items were ten cartons of frozen chicken, twenty cartons of frozen fish and packs of baby diapers.

Ms. Jantuah asked Ghanaians to avail themselves to the poor and the less endowed in society.

“It doesn’t matter whether you have children or not, Ghanaians must show love and make those children their own”, she noted.

Asked what motivated her to show compassion to the needy, Ms. Jantuah noted she was touched by the spirit of God to mobilise resources from her friends and well wishers through her NGO, Sparrows Nest.

She said the gesture would not only be limited to the Osu Children's Home as plans are underway to extend same to other institutions catering for the less privileged in society.

 'Madam Agnes', who received the items on behalf of the Osu Children's Home thanked Ms. Jantuah for her kind gesture and prayed to God to reward her abundantly.

She said the items would go a long way to help the orphanage address some of the teething challenges confronting it. She pleaded with other benevolent individuals, institutions and corporate bodies to follow the footsteps of Ms. Jantuah.
