Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh today addressed a press conference at the Ministry of Information to outline directives and protocols that will govern the reopening of schools across the country.
This follows an announcement by President Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday that final year students in universities, Senior High and Junior High Schools can return to school from June 15 to prepare for their exit exams.
While the directive has been met with mixed reactions from students, parents and some institutions, the President says the decision was taken in consultation with a number of stakeholders.
In view of this, Dr. Opoku Prempeh outlined details of the various measures that have been put in place by government to ensure the safety of students and teachers who will be resuming regular activities in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
Today's press conference follows a similar one held by the Religious Affairs Minister, Kofi Dzamesi, yesterday.
In his address to the press, Mr. Dzamesi said persons without face masks should not be allowed entry into church and mosques from Friday, June 5.
In addition, all congregants are to wash their hands with soap under running water or rub with alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
