The Police have arrested 25 National Democratic Congress youth it suspects were behind violent demonstrations in Nkawanta North in the Volta Region.
The youth set ablaze five government vehicles in protest over the retention of the District Chief Executive of the area, Mr Paul Levin Gyato.
They also destroyed several other properties belonging to the District.
The violent demonstrations have raised concerns about the ability of the police to deal with these party footsoldiers who at the least provocation take the law into their own hands.
Acting Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Cephas Arthur said the police will not countenance any act of lawlessness in the name of politics.
He confirmed the arrest of the youth in an interview with Joy News, Saturday.
He said the police have begun investigations into the matter and will screen the suspects before hauling before the court, persons suspected to have taken part in the violence.
Cephas Arthur maintained that once the issue bothers on violence, it will be dealt with irrespective of the political affiliation of the suspect involved.
