Officials of the Police Criminal Investigative Division have destroyed over three tonnes of Indian hemp. The operation carried out at the Bundase Military Training Camp burnt to ashes banned substances which had been kept in storage for more than twenty years. According to the division, its store room is full to capacity. Last two weeks the CID sought a court order to destroy the exhibits. Over seven thousand cedis worth of Indian hemp were destroyed. Officials of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Intelligence agencies supervised the operation. Deputy Operations Director, Superintendent Faakye Kumi told Joy News space must be created for new exhibits to be stored in the facility. “These are exhibits that came into the possession of the police. Some came as a result of police operation, where the suspects were arrested together with the exhibits. Some were arrested without the suspects,” he told Anna Agyapong. He lamented that some of the suspects who were arrested with the exhibits jumped bail before they could be prosecuted.
