Police in Aflao suspect movement of weapons into Ghana

Police in Aflao say they have intensified patrols along the Ghana-Togo border to prevent smuggling of weapons to foment trouble during the elections. The police say they have picked up intelligent reports pointing to movement of arms into the country ahead of the elections. Aflao District Police Commander said police will intensify their patrol to deal with anybody seeking to foment trouble. Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Odonkor told Joy News on Friday the Police are also working with political party leaders in order to maintain the peace in the area. Chief Superintendent Odonkor said the police is coordinating with personnel from the Ghana Immigration Service and officers from the Customs Division of Ghana Revenue Authority, to monitor movements along the border. Inspite of that, the District Commander said crime generally along the Aflao border has gone down considerably.
