The Ashanti Regional Police Command has launched an investigation into a violent incident in which a Jacobu District patrol team was attacked by a group of civilians at Bepotenten Sukuum in the Amansie Central District in the Ashanti Region while officers were carrying out routine operational duties.
According to a post shared on Facebook by the Service, the incident occurred on Friday, January 23, 2026, after police officers recovered a pump-action gun from a 15-year-old boy during a patrol operation in the area.
The post noted that the Police Command, the officers instructed the juvenile to inform the owner of the weapon to report to the police station with the appropriate documentation to account for possession of the firearm.
However, while the patrol team was returning from the operation, they were confronted by a large crowd of approximately 100 individuals who had blocked the road. The group was reportedly armed with cutlasses and firearms.
