Chief Inspector Paul Akpabli of Golokwati Police Station near Hohoe, has been interdicted for escorting seven bags of a substance suspected to be Indian Hemp.
A statement released by the Public Affairs Directorate of the Police Headquarters said the police officer was arrested together with two others by a team of police personnel at Sokode-Ando near Ho in the Volta Region while transporting the suspected narcotic substance in a Hyundai bus with registration number AS 6936-09.
The other two suspects are the driver, Peter Kamasah – 23 and the driver's mate Daniel Ekualiho – 26.
Preliminary investigations conducted by the police indicate that Chief Inspector Paul Akpabli took a fee of GH₵400.00 to escort the substance from Kpeve to the owner at Dzodze, all in the Volta Region.
All three suspects are in police custody for further investigations and necessary action.
The Police Administration reiterated that “it will not shield any Police Officer who misconducts him or herself in line with the Public Re-affirmation Campaign”.
