Leaders of the country’s political parties are demanding that the Electoral Commission (EC) gives account of all the funds it was given to carry out the 2012 elections.
The Commission was given in excess of 300 million Ghana cedis by government and donor agencies for the smooth conduct of the polls.
But the elections were characterized by several problems including the breakdown of the biometric verification machines, which political parties partly blamed it on inadequate education of electoral officers.
On the sidelines of a workshop organized by the IEA to review the country’s electoral system, the political parties demanded accountability from the Commission.
