Kotoko have everything to play for as they clash with Kessben in week 17 of the Glo Premier league.
A Kotoko-Kessben clash ordinarily should not generate any controversy, but with Coach Bashiru Hayford of Kessben determined to teach his former club a lesson, pundits cannot resist previewing the clash.
Hayford already forced a bitter pill down the throats of Kotoko with a solitary goal at the Abrankese Stadium in the first round and is determined for the double.
Kotoko are not in tatters but are not impressive as well. They are fourth on the league table with 24 points, 14 clear points away from leaders and rival Accra Hearts of Oak.
The Porcupine Warriors enter this game with three successive defeats, hanging around their neck. The pressure on Coach Isaac Opeele Boateng is at a fever pitch, culminating in his open confession; "With the situation we find ourselves in today, not even (Guus) Hiddink will achieve anything at Kotoko."
That sums up the frustration in the Kotoko fraternity and a defeat to Kessben at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium could be the last straw for the coach.
Cagey as the game appears on paper, one can still fancy, the porcupine warriors to pick the maximum points.
Accra Hearts of oak are on a roller coaster this season, and are favorites to beat Liberty Professionals at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
Liberty are wobbling, but coach George Lamptey is talking tough. He has sworn to break the back of his local rival but that won’t come easy. Again Hearts are tipped for the maximum points.
At the Sekondi Gyandu Park, Eleven Wise will pitch their strength against Kpandu Heart of Lions in a match that could go either way. A draw might be just be a fair results.
Beechem Chelsea are tipped to deepen the woes of Ashantigold at the Sunyani Coronation Park. Ashgold are second from relegation and does not look too convincing, not even after the return of Coach David Duncan and Cudjoe Fianoo to the side. If they pick a point, they would have been lucky.
It would be a battle against relegation when Hasaacas, fourth from bottom, come up against St. Mirren who are languishing at the bottom of the league table.
Playing at their favorite Essipong Stadium and with an impressive 2-1 victory over Chelsea last week, Hasaacas are tipped to carry the day.
Tema Youth have been disappointing following the departure of Coach Opeele, but at the Tema Sports Stadium, they are likely to pick up maximum points against Arsenals. A draw though will not be surprising.
Wa All Stars are favorites against King Faisal in Wa and so too is RTU against All Blacks at the Tamale Sports Stadium.
