The four-member committee set up by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, to investigate financial irregularities at the Customs, Excise and Preventive Services has begun work.
The fact-finding committee was established earlier this week following complaints of financial malfeasance and lack of transparency in the auctioning of seized goods.
The committee is expected to establish whether or not officials of CEPS are involved in any wrong doing and make appropriate recommendations.
The committee says it has just started receiving complaints from the public and is compiling them into petitions.
Although it is yet to invite any petitioner, complainants are expected to start testifying before the committee on Monday.
The committee is chaired by Justice Samuel Glenn Baddoo, a retired Supreme Court judge and has representatives from the private sector, the Ministry of Finance and the Attorney-General's Department.
