The Public Relations Officer of the Film Producers Association of Ghana, Socrate Sarfo, has said in an interview that the association nearly banned its member, Abdul Salam Mumuni, a producer, for comments he made during an interview with Myjoyonline.com.
The Venus Films CEO whose complaint led to FIPAG imposing a one-year ban on actress Yvonne Nelson told Myjoyonline.com in an interview on July 19 that, “From my side I have lifted the ban, even the association (FIPAG) is ready to announce the lifting [of the ban] very soon.”
He stated that he no longer had issues with the actress after she submitted an apology letter last month. “To me I don’t have any problem with Yvonne Nelson,” he said, adding that “even my next job I'm working with her.”
Apparently, the producer’s comments did not go down well with the film producers association and demanded clarification from the producer at one of FIPAG’s meetings which took place in Accra on July 29.
Socrate touching on the possibility of a producer getting banned, told Myjoyonline.com Tuesday that a producer can be banned, hinting that Abdul Salam was nearly sidelined for comments he made in an interview with myjoyonline.com on Yvonne Nelson. He was however, "warned", Socrate remarked.
The FIPAG PRO revealed that during the FIPAG meeting, Abdul Salam did explain that although he had no issues with the actress, he was waiting for an official confirmation from the association.
Another producer, according to Socrate, who would have also tasted the wrath of FIPAG, is Siriboe of Peace Films. “I know Siriboe would have been sidelined from our activities.”
