Prudential awarded US$500 to five students who achieved outstanding grades in their exams and will support their actuarial studies for the next two years.
The awards are part of the Prudential Actuarial Support System, which has been established to support the development of actuarial science in Ghana.
The award-winners were Abass Abdallah, Clement Abugri, Eric Agyemang, Wisdom Aselisewine and Yawo Mamoua Kobara. Prudential will also offer a year-long internship to a high-achieving student.
Prudential has committed to make similar awards to the university’s top Actuarial Science students for the next two years. The insurance company has also presented similar awards to students at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the University of Cape Coast (UCC).

We are committed to contributing to Ghana’s long-term prosperity and hope these awards will give these outstanding students the best possible start to their careers in actuarial science.”
Dr Albert Luguterah, Dean of Mathematical Sciences at the University for Development Studies, said: “We are delighted that Prudential has committed to supporting the development of actuarial science in Ghana. These generous awards will enable our students to move to the next stage of their career and achieve their ambitions of becoming actuaries of the highest calibre.”
