Quality Insurance Company’s Go Girl Policy, which seeks to empower women, has won the Best Product of the Year 2019 at the maiden Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) awards.
The Go Girl Policy, which was borne of QIC's flagship policy, Kingly Queenly Comprehensive Motor Insurance, encourages women to be independent of any third parties to renew their two yearly mandatory driver’s license or to get their car serviced because QIC will facilitate the renewal process at the DVLA Prestige Center and Total Petroleum Service Stations at no cost.
Managing Director of QIC, Kobena Addison said: “the overwhelming acceptance of this policy underscores its innovation and uniqueness. To the team at QIC who developed this product and the patrons of the product, this award is dedicated to you.
Without you, we would not be winning this. Women are truly the cornerstone of any society and providing tailored products for this segment of society is a win-win for all. We shall ensure that the product continues to do what it does best and enhance its features to attract more and more patrons," he said.
Mr. Addison noted that key attractive features of the product are such that you do not pay any extra premium to benefit.
"Over the years, after we launched our Kingly Queenly product, we realized that we needed to do something for women and so decided to launch ‘Go Girl’ which gives a free courtesy car to women. They have been requesting this for about five to six years and they have it now”.
It is your same comprehensive policy, there is no additional premium, just walk into any QIC Office, ask for your ‘Go Girl’ and get your ‘Go Girl’. What is quite interesting about ‘Go Girl’ is that a percentage of premiums generated goes to Pediatric Units nationwide,” he mentioned.
The Chairperson of the CIIG Committee, Lydia Lariba Bawa in her welcome address congratulated all nominees and winners on the night and reserved special praise for the organizers, the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) for putting together a credible award scheme for the industry.
“The CIIG is the umbrella body of all insurance professionals in the industry and is under the able leadership of the outgoing president, Rev. Asante Marfo-Ahenkora, who thought it wise to institute a credible scheme to fill this gap.”
She encouraged all in the insurance industry to put in their best to regain the public’s trust in insurance companies, adding that the event will be an annual programme as it has come to stay.
The sponsored event was supported by Ghana Insurers Association, Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana, Ghana Insurance College and Chartered Insurance Ladies Association of Ghana.
At the end of the event, five individuals were recognized for their professionalism exhibited in their fields of operation.
The event which was held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, had the sole purpose of promoting excellence in insurance professionals by celebrating best practices in Ghana’s insurance industry.
