Residents of Ho, Sokode, Kpeve, Have, Hohoe and surrounding villages in the Volta region did not hesitate to confess their frustrations with the President Mills led NDC administration to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, when the latter took his listening tour to their various communities last Thursday. At Anyinawase, an elder of the community, Fo Divine, said "we will no longer put all our eggs in one basket. We are happy that Nana has come here today and we want to assure him that the child who shows respect to his father is shown back same." At Kpeve, residents told Nana Addo that they have been deceived by the NDC. Davi Esi said "all the promises they made to us have not been kept and we are fed up." The township of Hohoe was thrown into a frenzy when Nana Addo got there. Walking through the principal streets and later to the main market and Zongo areas, Nana Addo interacted with many of the people, shaking hands with as many as he could. A charged youth group drummed their way through the thick crowd to have audience with Nana. They said "we the youth in the Volta region will no longer allow ourselves to be fooled. We worked hard for the NDC to make sure Prof Mills won the elections but he has since forgotten about us. We will not repeat the mistake of the past." They assured Nana Addo that they will go round the villages and tell their people to ignore the lies and propaganda and rather vote for the one who says he will bring free senior high school education. The third and final day of the NPP flagbearer's first phase of his listening tour of the region took him to Buem, Jasikan, Biakoye, Worawora, Nkonya and Vakpo where similar sentiments and concerns were brought to his attention. He also paid visits to the Jasikan College of Education, Bueman SHS and Worawora SHS where he reminded the students of his commitment to providing free senior high school education for the youth and people of Ghana. The NPP leader has since returned to Accra and will be heading back to the region for the second phase of the tour in the coming weeks.
