The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has argued that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, was ineffective during his tenure as president, rendering him unfit to lead again.
Dr Bawumia claims that Mahama’s presidency failed to deliver the expected results, and his leadership style lacked the necessary accountability to Ghanaians.
Dr Bawumia further contends that a one-term presidency for Mahama would not allow for the kind of long-term responsibility required to ensure progress and transparency in government.
He expressed concerns that Mahama's previous administration did not meet the expectations of Ghanaians, particularly in addressing critical economic challenges.
Speaking to stakeholders in the Ahafo Ano South West constituency, Dr Bawumia outlined his vision for the country, emphasising that his leadership would prioritise accountability and efficiency.
He assured the people that, under his administration, the focus would be on addressing the pressing needs of Ghanaians, with an emphasis on creating sustainable solutions for the country's growth.
“Everybody should know that former President Mahama and I are strongly contesting in this race. But he has been president before so when voted for, he can only be president for four years then he will be gone. But I on the other hand can be president for 8 years when you vote for me."
“I will come back here after four years to account for my work. I will come back to Ahafo Ano South West to give an account of my work."
“I will come and show you the roads and schools I have constructed. I know that most of the towns within this constituency need electricity. I will come and show you the electricity we will bring to the various towns in this constituency."
“Since I will come back here to give an account, I will do the work diligently. Your majesties, give me the steering wheel.”
