The NDC parliamentary candidate for Sekyere Afram Plains, Hajia Nasira Afrah, organised a football gala to unite the youth and people of the constituency.
The event saw Hamidu defeat Dagomba 1-0 in the opening match. Eight teams participated: Dagomba, Anyinofi, Drobonso, Fumsua, Hamidu, Dawia, Issahkrom, and Seneso.
The final match ended in a goalless draw, with Drobonso winning 3-2 on penalties. Sharaf Mahama, son of the former president, supported Hajia Nasira in the kickoff and awards ceremony.
The event featured prominent personalities, including Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, MP for Tamale South; Mavis Kukua Bissue, PC for Ahanta West; Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC; and President of the African Paralympic Committee, Samson Deen.
Hajia Nasira Afrah encouraged the youth to embrace unity for development and expressed appreciation for their peaceful conduct during the recent electoral registration exercise. Special guest Hon. Haruna Iddrisu advised the youth to consider careers in football and education, using Black Stars player Abdul Fatawu Issahaku as an example.
Results and Awards:
The Drobonso team emerged as the champions of the tournament, clinching the trophy after a tense final match that ended in a goalless draw. They ultimately triumphed with a 3-2 victory on penalties. Individual accolades were also awarded: Seth Adomako (Essien) was named Best Player, Owusu Boateng Godfred was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper, and Abdul Razak Yahaya earned the title of Goal King.

Prizes:
Drobonso, as the tournament champions, received a cash prize of GHS 10,000. The runner-up team was awarded GHS 6,000, while the third-place team earned GHS 3,000. The fourth-place team did not leave empty-handed, as they took home GHS 1,000.
Hajia Nasira Afrah congratulated Drobonso for their victory and highlighted the event's role in fostering unity and camaraderie within the community. This event underscores the power of sports in achieving common goals and bringing communities together.
