The 2nd Lady, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, has commissioned the first of two new and improved institutional cookstove kitchens at the Nkoranza Technical Institute in the Bono East Region.
The project is part of the Energy Commission’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative in celebration of its 25th anniversary.

In her keynote address on 17th September 2024, Mrs Bawumia emphasized the importance of clean cooking solutions, noting that "the simple act of cooking using unclean fuels leads to household air pollution, responsible for over 20,000 premature deaths annually in Ghana." These deaths, she said, stem from diseases such as stroke, heart disease, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and lung cancer.

The Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission on his part, encouraged the Nkoranza Technical Institute to leverage this facility to impart practical technical skills to students, enhancing their learning experience.
The Principal of the Institute expressed the School's heartfelt gratitude to the board and management of the Energy Commission and everyone involved in making this impactful project a success.

“Together, we are promoting clean energy solutions for a healthier Ghana” the Energy Commission noted.
