Survivors and relatives of victims of the June 3 fire and flood disaster that shook the capital three years ago have joined congregants of the Word Power Pentecostal Ministries in Alajo, Accra, for a thanksgiving service.
Amid singing and dancing, the survivors gave thanks to God for their lives and even to those who lost their lives to the twin-disaster.
Amidst heavy flooding, late night on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, an explosion at Kwame Nkrumah Circle Branch of a GOIL fuel station in Accra killed at least 150 people.

The streets close the epicentre of the disaster, the fuel station, were littered with bodies.
The morgues were congested with bodies and hospital authorities were inundated with casualties from what many say is the worst disaster in Ghana's history.
Many believe actual casualty figures could exceed the officially declared 150 deaths.
A three-day national mourning was declared as the whole country was plunged into sorrow.
At the Word Power Pentecostal Ministries today, Sunday, June 3, survivors refused to speak to the media because they have repeated their calls for support for three years but they seem have fallen on deaf ears.
Some of them, however, told Joy News’ Karen Dodoo that they are still facing financial challenges since the fire and flood destroyed most of their properties.

Meanwhile, Karen reports some of the victims appears to be living with the trauma of the disaster and may even need psychological assistance.
Some of the victims said although they will live with the trauma of the twin disaster for the rest of their lives, coupled with the continuous disappointment from the government in responding to their call for support, they remain grateful to God.

Meanwhile, Assemblyman for Odorna Sahara, the area where the fuel station was situated, Hendrick Kena, has called on the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to disburse the allocated funds for the affected victims.
