A British woman who has been in Ghana for only two months has already received seven marriage proposals from Ghanaian men who hardly knew her, including a policeman.
Speaking to Joy News on Wednesday, Catherine expressed surprise at the fast rate at which she is getting marriage proposals on the spot from men she meets and barely knew. One of the proposals was made at the gates where she was buying a ticket for a football match.
According to her, it is often the third question the men ask her, after they ask of her name and where she is coming from.
But so far, she has turned down all the proposals, because she thinks she can’t marry all seven men.
She also believes the men think by marrying a British citizen they could easily migrate to the UK, get better paid jobs and live a better life.
While Catherine agrees that it is possible to get well paid jobs in the UK if one has the qualifications, she was quick to point out that there are problems that migrants can face in the UK.
In any case, she says she could only marry one man when she is ready.
